I believe words are weak and actions speak for themselves. I put 100% into my training and conditioning to be the best fighter, athlete, and competitor I am able to be. The result will be rewarding no matter what if you give everything you can
Jer “The Jerk” Kornelsen, November 5th commenting on BFL 12 main event championship fight against Micah “The Bully” Brakefield.
About Me

I was born, on January 6th 1980 in Abbotsford BC, a natural athlete, excelling in baseball and hockey with ease. Hockey scholarships took me to Saskatchewan where I first started playing baseball. I was in multiple all-star tournaments and back to back league and provincial championships. Eventually losing interest, I ventured to Tofino B.C. where I found a passion for surfing. A couple years later I ended up as a bouncer in Nanaimo for 5 years. Upon leaving the bar industry I finally decided to pursue a career in an interest I found in MMA during the first UFC event. Since then I have been training full time for two years, and just like past sports I took interest in, I have excelled incredibly.

Unfortunately I lost my first official amateur fight against Nathan “Roadhouse” Swayze and instead of being discouraged by this I just trained harder and eventually earned a fight in the Battlefield Fight League against Dave Ferguson. I walked away with my first win by submission (rear naked choke) in the second round, and it felt amazing, addicting actually. So I continued to train hard and strived to become a champion. 13 months after my first win and here I am, the main event in BFL 12 with my first chance to become a champion against my one and  only BFL loss and “friendemie”: Micah “The Bully” Brakefield. The first fight between us was in Nanaimo, B.C. and ended with a split decision loss for myself, close call though. Not only will this fight be the BFL 12 main event and the first fight aired live on the Fight Network for BFL, but it is the most anticipated fight in BFL history.“Jer is one of our biggest stars, he has been in 4 memorable fights in Battlefield winning three of them and on November 18th he has a very good chance of becoming the first ever battlefield champion from the island” – Jay Golshani, president of BFL.

In preparation for my upcoming fight I have has been training just under 20 hours a week. While I am not training I am busy managing BFI and spending time with friends and my amazing girlfriend when I can :)

BFL 12 will be hosted at the Vogue theatre in downtown Vancouver on November 18th, tickets can be purchased online VIA battlefieldfl.com
